Update on New Nash Elementary School

Dear Tapleytown Elementary School Families,

In keeping with our commitment to transparency and ensuring the community remains informed, we want to provide an update on recent changes to the New Nash school development.

In December 2023, the HWDSB Board of Trustees paused the new school build in Stoney Creek to allow staff to carefully investigate the changing conditions related to the activity at the GFL Regional Facility. In October 2024, Trustees approved moving forward with the new school build at the originally identified site.

Taking proper precautions and recognizing the signs and symptoms of a concussion can help keep every student safe and healthy while they stay active.

HWDSB Summer Learning Shines at Bernie Custis Secondary School

As we see the final days of summer vacation slip away, the countdown to a new school year begins. While we know our staff and students have enjoyed a much-earned summer break, learning at HWDSB never truly stops!

For some students, September marks a new beginning­ – a new school or the transition from elementary to secondary. For others, the transition began this summer through programs designed to accelerate learning. Incoming Grade 9 students at Bernie Custis Secondary School had the opportunity to engage with these programs firsthand.
